MOBILE BRUSH CHIPPER / MULCHER SAFETY TRAINING (Safely operate a mobile chipper / mulcher)

Training Delivery:

Training and assessments conducted by A Plus Training Solutions, holder of Certificate IV Training and Assessment (TAE40116, TAE40110 & TAA40104)

Purpose

This course involves operating a mobile chipper/mulcher in a tree care, local government, forest and forest products setting. The skills and knowledge required for competent workplace performance are to be used within the scope of the person's job and authority.

Recognition of Training

A Certificate of Competency to Operate a mobile chipper/mulcher will be issued to applicants who meet the criteria required from the course assessment. This may require supplementary evidence in the form of a report from a suitable supervisor, or further assessment.

Location

Courses will be conducted on client's premises using their site mobile chipper. Sufficient brush will be needed for each participant to gain practice and demonstrate brush Chipping competence.

Duration

  • 1/2 - 1 day depending on prior experience of participants.


  • Some participants, due to a variety of factors, may require more time to develop the knowledge & skills required to demonstrate competency.

Course Fees:

The courses will be run in groups of 6 to 10 participants at a cost of:
$275.00 (GST Free) per person:

Individuals or smaller groups should contact us, as we may be able to fit you into a larger group, otherwise minimum course fee for 6 people will apply.
A surcharge fee may apply for any work on weekends or public holidays

Supervised written and/or verbal and practical assessment.

Equipment

Participants will need to bring PPE (personal protective equipment) including:

  • Approved eye protection (safety glasses or goggles & face shield or perspex visor)
  • Hearing protection (ear plugs or ear muffs)
  • Hard Hat (where applicable)
  • Safety boots
  • Gloves (loose fitting without open cuff)
  • High visibility clothing (where applicable)
  • Sunscreen (where applicable)

  • Brush Chipper, in good, safe serviceable condition, sufficient fuel and material for practical chipping

    If you are unable to provide all this equipment please contact us. We may be able to make other arrangements. All other required equipment and training notes are provided for participant's use.

    Demonstration of Competence:

    From experience, we find that people have different levels of ability and experience when it comes to handling machinery. If a person, due to a lack of experience, requires more time to develop their skills, more time for practical application may be needed to increase their skills up to a competent level.

    Personal Requirements:

    Depending on location of the training, and availability of take away food outlets, it is advisable for trainees to bring own food and plenty of drinking water to training session.
